TL;DR: Mining Wownero on my M4 Max Mac gets around 3 KH/s on macOS. These are my results.
I tested Wownero mining on an M4 Max Mac using the built-in miner. This was run inside a Docker container on macOS. The setup and tuning were done mostly with Codex helping me, so I’m sure someone here probably knows how to optimize it better than ChatGPT. Still, these were my results:

I also asked Codex to tune the miner and benchmark different thread counts. It reported the following:
6 threads: 2204 H/s
8 threads: 2225 H/s
10 threads: 2247 H/s
12 threads: 3113 H/s best
14 threads: 2701 H/s
16 threads: 2260 H/s
My M4 Max reports:
12 performance cores
4 efficiency cores
16 total CPUs
So, at least in my testing, the best setting was 12 threads, not 16. Using all 16 threads actually made performance worse, likely because the efficiency cores add contention and heat without helping much with RandomWOW.
Again, this is just a quick test on my machine, and it was running inside Docker. If anyone has advice for Wownero mining on macOS, I’d be interested to see what kind of hashrate is actually possible.
